http://westwingreport.disqus.com/enSun, 07 Aug 2011 02:27:13 -0000http://www.westwingreport.net/2011/08/06/sp-a-blow-to-national-pride/#comment-279622662<p>We have now been through FOUR oil shocks since 1974 with NO sustainable national energy policy and the inexorable rise in energy prices.  John Hofmeister, past president of Shell Oil USA writes in his new book, Why We Hate The Oil Companies, that the failure of the political system to address the energy insecurity of the US is very likely to precipitate an OIL ABYSS in the next decade resulting in shortage and unaffordable energy access.  THIS IS AN EMERGENCY OF GARGANTUAN PROPORTION WAITING TO HAPPEN IN THE NEAR FUTURE.  Failure to address this problem is creating an urgent and potential disaster for this nation and its people as well as the entire human race.  We must start listening to someone who spent his life bring energy to the world and is sounding the emergency call with logic and scientific knowledge to support his thesis.</p><p>Charles L.
